i was pondering the way the society condemns anyone who looks for "spiritual food" outside of their approved channel.
as we know, jws are only to go to the approved website, and research material.. this illustration came to mind.. lets say we have a 5star fancy restaurant, and a new clean food truck.
both kitchens prepare a meal.. if the food is simply assessed on its own merit, and the source of its production is ignored, it can be deemed as healthy, safe, nutritious and tasty.

i always liked wood carvings.... but never seen anything like this!

People love making tiny things. That's a lot of tiny things on a long log. It would drive me crazy if I had to make it, but there are some things I do that probably would have the same effect on others.
an indignant law enforcement officer wrote kim & mikey to let them know watchtower had placed an advertisement on a facebook page dedicated to law enforcement staff only, looking to hire a fully uniformed and armed officer at $35 per hour.
the commission was for the memorial in a specified texan venue.. the officer was particularly miffed at the hypocrisy considering the terrible way law enforcement was portrayed in the 2018 convention video, where the jws had been herded into a field to be slaughtered by a large group of officers.
not to mention the fact they are only too willing to call police for their own protection, yet won’t do so when it comes to protecting children from potential or actual abuse.. https://youtu.be/-rpcsztnvyo.
The WT also pays monthly, a retainer to "worldly" lawyers purely for child abuse cases. A lot of ice cream money goes into their pockets.
I wonder if the police would take their time to answer a call to the WT?
Dear Creation:
As it says in my book " A thousand years are but a day to me" - I'll get back to you by tomorrow.
so my husband who was not attending meetings for the last four months, went to the special talk, the memorial and the meeting today.
he said he feels jehovah’s spirit is back and that they are all being so kind.. i am just sick to my stomach.
he just refuses to see anything as a problem.
I don't know what the talk said specifically, but besides talking a great deal about what it means for humankind, they usually throw in a few words about how God will soon take care of all the problems. Every witness, new, old or "prodigal son" type, will know what they are talking about - Armageddon. The ones coming back, might become a little anxious thinking about where they stand in God's eyes.
That fear is also a great motivator to return. I remember several people coming back into the congregation when an event in world made them anxious. So he may have that running through his mind also.
Maybe that is a subject you will end up talking about. If he is anxious, he might express it to you. He might be thinking about what will happen to you when it does come.
i got up late today.
i hear the doorbell ring and i go - not really dressed for company - i stand back and see a jw man maybe 60 years old or so.
at first i was just going to brush him off.
They've been taught that above all else, the GB would never lie. The organization is above reproach. I certainly believed that at one time.
But now I know they do. If the bible teaches one thing, it is that people can and will lie even if they belong to the "true" religion. Peter lied, David covered up sinning etc. But funny how that isn't thought of at all, when looking at the present day "truthful" religion.
purely from a structural view - favoritism and who has the better position.. when you think about who sinned and their punishment, you start to see a pattern.
this doesn't cover all instances but it is telling.. if you murder, fornicate and disobey but are a king or other notable, you probably get away with your life intact.
in fact, others may suffer for your sinning while you get forgiven.. however, if you impinge on any priestly duties or offices, you are toast.. king david, the one beloved by the wt, is a notable example.

However, if you impinge on any priestly duties or offices, you are toast.
King David, the one beloved by the WT, is a notable example. From having sex with Bathsheba, killing her husband, hiding it, having numerous wives and illegally counting the people - David escaped with his life and was forgiven. In the mean time, the child born to him and Bathsheba, well he was killed by God. After David did the sinning in counting the people - the nation of Israel lost thousands of people to the plague.
Then there was Manasseh. Burned his children up and got the nation to follow suit. Sure God threw him in prison as punishment, but then he forgave him when he cried.
King Solomon - hundreds of wives and concubines and war chariots. Started worshiping other Gods but died an old man.
Now for a few examples of what happens when you try to encroach on priestly things.
King Saul - he did some impulsive things but what got him into big trouble was taking the place of a priest/prophet and offering up an offering. Holy spirit taken away and eventually lost his life. His son, a loyal servant lost his life at the same time. Because he was a king, that got him a little more time than ....
Uzzah. Made the mistake of touching the Ark of the Covenant. That was only for one of the Levites or Priests to do. Instant death.
The Famous Korah and associates. Wanted to offer up incense. They certainly got toasted.
Achan who stole spoil from the fall of Jericho. Basically he stole from God (which is also like stealing from the religious leaders) Not only did he die, but his family and animals.
Ananias and his wife. Didn't give it all (to God and religious rulers) and lied about it. Instant death.
What the bible really teaches is - people put in position of authority from the religious leaders, can get away with a lot of things and still remain in power. You can include the very rich in that too because they will give money to the religious leaders. But try to do what only the priests/leaders have given to themselves, you will pay the ultimate.
Elders can have their dirty secrets and be forgiven - the GB can "kill" anyone that doesn't agree with what they teach or anyone that dares to suggest their way is wrong.
Such a book.
saturday, april 20. keep proclaiming the death of the lord, until he comes.—1 cor.
11:26.. regarding the great tribulation just ahead of us, jesus said: “they will see the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
and [jesus] will send out his angels with a great trumpet sound, and they will gather his chosen ones together.” (matt.
It would make for a nice story that one day, the present GB disappear. New fresh ones take their place. If asked, the organization will say it is new light and some of the anointed (GB) are now in heaven with Jesus, going over their battle plans. As people visit the new compound, they notice how nice and green everything is. One asks, what fertilizer do you use? Soylent Green they say.

at first i was just going to brush him off.
I felt a little bad afterwards because I wanted to keep it cool. But on the other hand, he thought I was just mistaken and mislead (my assumption) but not a bitter apostate. So maybe, just maybe, the information will pop up in his mind when he hears about other things.

At first I was just going to brush him off. I told him I'm not presentable and he asked if he could come back in a few minutes.
I said my mother is a JW witness and I've been raised as one - until my Brother in law found out about how the jw's really deal with pedophiles in the congregation. He came back with how the organization in their publications, are very strong against pedophiles. I said they don't tell others about it in the congregation. I said the ARC investigation showed they had over 1,000 cases that were never reported to the police. That means the police don't know to be able to protect others.
By this time, I was getting emotional. I said I saw Jeffrey Jackson lie to the commission, I know because I've been a witness for years (tho not baptized) so I know he was lying. I told him to look it up himself. He said I had all the wrong information.
I said after that I looked up what the bible said and what they said and they were wrong.
He says It sounds like you don't have any respect for the organization.
I said I don't. They let pedophiles stay in the congregation. And something about God not approving of it.
He said I will leave you to your opinion.
Of course, this isn't word for word. He said he had been in the organization for 30 years so he knew what was true about it. Yeah, just wait till it all blows up.
The upside is, he isn't going to come back.
